Think cheetah - think speed!! Nature's supercharger is the fastest thing on four legs. A cat of supreme grace and beauty, the cheetah lives life in the animal "fast lane" and is perfectly designed for the job. Able to reach speeds of over 100kmph, to accelerate from 0 to 70 in just 2 seconds and to come to a stop from 32kmph in a single stride, the cheetah's skills are the envy of any racing car. Its unique speed comes at a price however, and the cheetah does not carry the bulk or fierce weaponry of other big cats. As a result cheetahs tend to lose out in the food stakes and have gained a reputation for bad parenting but is that reputation justified? Caring, tolerant and shy, for many the cheetah is the most endearing of Africa's big cats.
